Félix RodrÃguez-del RÃo, M.D., is board certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery and is a fellowship trained orthopedic surgeon in the subspecialty of foot and ankle surgery. Dr. Rodriguez-del Rio's practice includes comprehensive treatment options for foot and ankle conditions, including foot and ankle arthroscopy, reconstructive foot and ankle surgery, total ankle replacement, deformities of the foot, neuropathy, and charcot foot. Dr. Rodriguez-del Rio also treats general orthopedic conditions, including sports injuries, fractures and dislocations, and workers' compensation injuries.
Areas of interest include sports orthopedics, diabetic foot, pediatric general orthopedics, fracture care, and workers' compensation. Dr. Rodriguez-del Rio is fluent in Spanish and welcomes Spanish-speaking patients.
Dr. RodrÃguez-del RÃo has taken an active role in the community. Dr. Rodriguez-del Rio served as Foot and Ankle Consultant for the Puerto Rico Volleyball Olympic Team. During his tenure as President of the Orthopaedic State Society, he organized public service clinics in Puerto Rico for the underserved communities and contributed to public service weekly radio programs to orient and assist underserved and aging communities. He continues to take an active role in the medical community, serving as a medical consultant for ACUMED International Corporation.

Corey A. Jones, MD, is a board-eligible and fellowship trained orthopedic surgeon specializing in adult hip and knee joint replacements. Dr. Jones is dedicated to restoring mobility and improving quality of life for patients suffering from a variety of orthopedic conditions with a focus on degenerative/inflammatory joint diseases, post-traumatic arthritis, complex joint deformities, and complications following joint replacements.

He has extensive training and experience in performing minimally invasive anterior hip replacements, robotic-assisted joint replacements, partial knee replacements, complex hip and knee replacements, and revision joint replacements. Dr. Jones is passionate about employing cutting-edge technologies and using muscle-sparing techniques such as the anterior hip approach and robotic-technology assisted surgeries to provide personalized care that enhances outcomes and speeds the recovery for patients. His expertise also includes the treatment of prosthetic joint infections, peri-prosthetic fractures and general orthopedic fractures and injuries.

With a patient-centered approach, Dr. Jones believes that excellent orthopedic care begins with strong communication. "Every patient has a story, and my job is to strive to make that story better," he says. "Whether or not surgery is required, clear and open communication between the surgeon and the patient is essential to building trust and delivering the best care possible."

Dr. Jones is originally from Melbourne, FL and attended the University of Florida for both undergraduate and medical school. In medical school he graduated first in his class and was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society. He moved to Atlanta, GA to complete an orthopaedic surgical residency at Emory University and Grady Memorial Hospital. During his time in residency he was consistently involved in program leadership was elected by his colleagues and faculty to serve as Chief Resident and was awarded the Thomas Moore Sr. Mentorship Award for "exemplary mentorship to his junior residents". Following residency, he completed an additional year at Harvard in Boston, MA learning advanced techniques in revision and complex joint reconstruction from faculty that have set the foundation for modern joint replacements. He has now returned to the greater Atlanta area to help serve the people and community which he knows played such a pivotal role in shaping him as a physician and surgeon.

He is certified in ROSA and MAKO robotic surgery, has published in a variety of journals and is an active member of the American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons (AAHKS), the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (AAOS), and the Georgia Orthopaedic Society.

Tobias von Bergen, MD is a board certified orthopedic surgeon, fellowship trained in hand and upper extremity surgery. Dr. von Bergen's practice includes wrist, elbow, and shoulder arthroscopy and reconstruction, comprehensive care of adult and pediatric upper extremity injuries and ailments, fracture care, as well as work injuries. He has a special interest in advanced care for lost limbs, including targeted muscle reinnervation, regenerative peripheral nerve surgery and neuroma management.

Dr. Ali Nourbakhsh is a fellowship-trained orthopaedic spine surgeon who is continually active in orthopaedic and spinal research. He has authored over 60 publications and abstract and lectured at national and regional meetings on the topics of comprehensive spinal care, osteoporosis, and adult spine reconstruction, bone and spinal tumors and fractures.

A graduate of Tehran University of Medical Sciences Tehran, Iran, where he earned his medical degree. With extensive training in the latest surgical and nonsurgical methods and techniques, Dr. Nourbakhsh's goal is to assure his patients get the most effective treatment for their spine ailment. Dr. Noubakhsh uses evidence-based treatment plans tailored to the patient's individual needs to help them back to what they love to do.

Richard J. Bowles, MD, provides orthopedic care to patients in our McDonough and Stockbridge locations. His practice includes general orthopedics with a specialization in sports medicine. He has special interests in ACL reconstruction and complex knee surgery (including multiligamentous reconstruction and cartilage salvage/knee preservation) and advanced arthroscopic surgery of the shoulder, elbow, hip, and knee.
Dr. Bowles graduated with honors from the University of Louisville and continued his education at the University of Louisville School of Medicine in Louisville, Kentucky, after a career in engineering and business. After completing a general surgery internship at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center (a Harvard Medical School teaching hospital) in Boston, Dr. Bowles completed his orthopedic surgery residency at the University of Colorado in Denver. He completed his sports medicine fellowship at the Cleveland Clinic. He is a team physician for the US Ski & Snowboard Team.

Dr. Alonzo T. Sexton is a trailblazing orthopedic surgeon with over 19 years of clinical experience, specializing in sports medicine at professional, collegiate, and amateur levels. He is board-certified in orthopedic surgery and holds Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification. Dr. Sexton earned his Bachelor of Arts in Human Biology from Stanford University and his Doctor of Medicine from Emory University School of Medicine. He completed his orthopedic surgery residency at Emory University Hospital, followed by a sports medicine fellowship at Lenox Hill Hospital.

Throughout his career, Dr. Sexton has demonstrated expertise in treating a wide range of orthopedic conditions, with a particular focus on shoulder and knee injuries. His surgical specialties include procedures addressing shoulder arthritis, such as shoulder replacements, labral repairs for shoulder dislocations, and arthroscopic rotator cuff repairs. In knee surgery, he has expertise in ACL reconstructions utilizing minimally invasive techniques, such as all-inside ACL reconstruction, meniscus repairs, and surgeries addressing the patella. Additionally, Dr. Sexton is skilled in treating lateral epicondylitis (tennis elbow) through arthroscopic surgery and managing conditions such as trochanteric bursitis with arthroscopic IT band release.

Dr. Sexton has served as a team physician for the New York Jets, the University of Georgia, Georgia State University, and Clark Atlanta University, providing medical care to athletes across various disciplines. He is a fellow with the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons and membership in the American Orthopedic Society of Sports Medicine. He is also a Sports Sector Member of the Physical Activity Alliance. His contributions to the field have been recognized with honors such as the Castle Connolly Top Doctor award in 2022 and 2023, and the RICE Award for healthcare and wellness in 2022.

Beyond his clinical practice, Dr. Sexton is a thought leader in health information technology and the application of blockchain in healthcare. He has a keen interest in remote patient monitoring and artificial intelligence, advocating for the integration of advanced technologies to enhance patient care and operational efficiency. His philosophy centers on restoring patients' abilities to engage in activities they value, emphasizing personalized treatment plans and patient education to empower individuals in their recovery journeys.

Dr. David E. O'Neill, MD, is a board-eligible orthopedic surgeon specializing in Orthopedic Trauma. With a deep commitment to comprehensive patient care, Dr. O'Neill excels in the treatment of fractures, particularly those around joints such as the elbow, hip, knee, and ankle, as well as fractures of the pelvis and acetabulum. He utilizes both traditional and minimally invasive surgical approaches, including total hip and knee arthroplasty, especially in the context of trauma.

Dr. O'Neill completed his residency in Orthopedic Surgery at UT Southwestern from 2018 to 2023, followed by an Orthopedic Trauma Fellowship at the Florida Orthopedic Institute from 2023 to 2024. His primary focus is on fracture care, with a particular interest in complex fractures around joints. He is proficient in treating pelvic and acetabular fractures and is also trained in joint replacement surgery for fractures around the hip. The conditions he treats include fractures of the clavicle, scapula, humerus, radius, and ulna; fractures of the sacrum, pelvis, and acetabulum; fractures of the femur, tibia, foot, and ankle; soft tissue injuries; total hip and knee arthroplasty; as well as non-union, infection, and osteomyelitis.

Dr. O'Neill emphasizes a multidisciplinary approach to patient care, particularly in trauma settings. He collaborates with a diverse team, including emergency medical services, emergency department providers, general surgery traumatologists, orthopaedic traumatologists, medicine doctors, physical and occupational therapists, psychiatrists, and social workers, to ensure holistic care and maximize patient outcomes. His practice is heavily influenced by his training at UT Southwestern and the Florida Orthopaedic Institute, which have been instrumental in shaping his approach to orthopaedic trauma and joint reconstruction.

Dr. O'Neill employs unique technologies and treatments, such as percutaneous treatment of pelvic and acetabular fractures, total hip arthroplasty for acetabulum and femur fractures, and periarticular fracture care. 

Ivan Glotov is a physician assistant practicing in our Stockbridge location where he works with Dr. David O'Neill.

Ivan attended Auburn University in Auburn, AL, where he graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Sciences and a minor in Spanish and Psychology. He later attended Mercer University in Atlanta, GA, where he received a Master of Medical Science in Physician Assistant Studies. Ivan is certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants.

Dr. Mohamoud is a highly trained physician specializing in pain medicine and physical medicine & rehabilitation. His clinical interests include the management of acute and chronic pain, spine disorders, musculoskeletal injuries, and neuromodulation. He is passionate about developing multidisciplinary and evidence-based treatment plans tailored to the unique needs of each patient to restore function and improve quality of life.

Dr. Mohamoud completed his Pain Medicine Fellowship at Temple University Hospital in 2025, following his residency in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation and internship in Internal Medicine at the Medical College of Wisconsin Affiliated Hospitals. He earned his Doctor of Medicine from Loyola University Chicago Stritch School of Medicine and holds a Bachelor of Arts in Cell and Molecular Biology from Winona State University.

Throughout his career, Dr. Mohamoud has contributed significantly to academic medicine through clinical research, national presentations, and scholarly publications. His research interests span from pain perception in elderly populations to novel approaches in interventional pain procedures. He has presented at national conferences, including AAP Physiatry, ASRA, and the NYNJ Pain Symposium, and has co-authored chapters in the 2024 edition of Pocket Anesthesia.

In addition to his academic work, Dr. Mohamoud has been an active contributor to diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives throughout his training. He has held numerous leadership roles on advisory boards and student organizations focused on improving access to care and supporting underrepresented populations in medicine.

Todd A. Schmidt, M.D., is board certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery and is an American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons Fellow. Dr. Schmidt is fellowship trained in both shoulder surgery and sports medicine. His practice includes orthopaedic surgery with a special interest in sports medicine, shoulder, hip and knee disorders and arthritic joint reconstruction He is an innovator in the use of computer-assisted surgery in joint replacement and in the evaluation of hip disorders, and the use of arthroscopy to treat them. Prior to his founding role in OrthoAtlanta, Dr. Schmidt held leadership positions on the Board of Directors and Finance Committee for the Hughston Clinic. He also has served as the Board Chair and Finance Chair at OrthoAtlanta.
Dr. Schmidt is active in community athletic events, having served as a physician for the USA Olympic Sports Medicine Association and the Special Olympics. He also has served as the Medical Director for the LPGA, Chick-fil-A Charity Golf Championship and both the Peach Bowl and Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl in multiple years. Dr. Schmidt also served as an associate team physician for the Atlanta Falcons. In addition, he continues his relationship as team physician for Union Grove High School and Strong Rock Christian School. Dr. Schmidt is a past Chief of Medical Staff at Piedmont Henry Hospital. He is on the board of the Georgia Orthopedic Society, and is a past president. He is also on the Board of Counselors of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons (AAOS) and serves on the governing board of Piedmont Henry Hospital.

Dr. Crellin is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon fellowship-trained in sports medicine and advanced arthroscopy. He specializes in the treatment of complex sports- and work-related injuries of the shoulder, knee, elbow, hip, ankle, hand, and foot, with particular expertise in cartilage restoration procedures and novel orthobiologic therapies. While highly skilled in surgery, Dr. Crellin emphasizes nonoperative management as a first-line approach whenever possible.

His passion for orthopedics began in high school after sustaining a soccer injury and being inspired by the skill and compassion of his treating surgeon. Dr. Crellin earned his Bachelor of Science in Sports Medicine with honors from Marietta College, where he also obtained his Athletic Trainer's License. He completed medical school at Ohio University, residency at the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine, and fellowship training in Sports Medicine/Advanced Arthroscopy at the University of Pennsylvania.

Dr. Crellin has been in practice for more than 20 years in the greater Cincinnati area, where he built a large and respected practice known for both his surgical expertise and his strong patient-physician relationships. He is a Fellow of the American Osteopathic Academy of Orthopedics, holds a Certificate of Added Qualifications in Sports Medicine, and has served as a national board examiner and question writer for orthopedic and sports subspecialty boards.
