Jeffrey Pavlacic, Ph.D.

Dr. Pavlacic is a licensed clinical psychologist in the Sleep, Mood, Anxiety Research \& Treatment Division. He provides therapy to adults with anxiety disorders, trauma- and stressor-related disorders, sleep disturbances, and co-occurring difficulties such as acute and chronic pain and sensory processing conditions. He earned his Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from the University of Mississippi, where he received comprehensive training in cognitive behavioral therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy, dialectical behavior therapy skills, and mindfulness-based interventions. He completed his predoctoral internship training and postdoctoral fellowship at the Medical University of South Carolina and the Ralph H. Johnson VA Medical Center. In his clinical practice, he takes a personalized, cognitive-behavioral approach - tailoring treatment to each individual's goals and values.

Her clinical interests include trauma-focused care, interpersonal dynamics, psychosis and improving the treatment of severe mental illness.

He earned a Bachelor's degree with honors in Psychology from Rowan University and a Master's in Counseling/Clinical Psychology from Jersey City State University. Later, he furthered his nursing education by earning a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of South Carolina and a Master of Science in Nursing specializing in Family Medicine from Francis Marion University. He started working as a registered nurse at the Medical University of South Carolina in 2011, where he led the Medical-Surgical float pool as the first nurse to "float" to the Institute of Psychiatry. He is an active member of the Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing and has over 12 years of experience working as an R.N.

Melanie Lobel, MD, PharmD

Dr. Melanie Lobel did her undergraduate work and graduate work finishing a Pharmacy Doctorate from the University of South Carolina College of Pharmacy in Columbia, SC. She practiced clinical pharmacy for ten years in Hilton Head, South Carolina and was then accepted at MUSC College of Medicine. She completed a general psychiatry residency and an additional fellowship year of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at the University of South Carolina Department of Neuropsychiatry. Her last years have been spent providing excellent patient care in an acute care hospital setting in Lexington, SC before joining MUSC Department of Psychiatry. Dr. Lobel's focus is medication-related psychiatric syndromes such as medication toxicity, neuroleptic malignant syndrome, anticholinergic toxicity, and PRES. Her experience as a pharmacist has been invaluable in maintaining patient safety while taking psychotropic medications.
