Jingliang Yan, MD, PhD

Dr. Yan is a board-certified bariatric and general surgeon. He received his MD and PhD degrees from Indiana University. Subsequently, he completed his general surgery training at the Cleveland Clinic and advanced bariatric surgery fellowship at Vanderbilt University.
His main clinical focus is weight loss. He is double board certified in both the surgical and medical aspects of obesity treatment. He routinely performs minimally invasive bariatric surgeries (Roux-en-Y gastric bypass and sleeve gastrectomy), using both the laparoscopic and robotic approaches.
He also specializes in complex hernia repairs, including large hiatal/paraesophageal hernia repairs, various anti-acid reflux surgeries, as well as complex ventral and incisional hernia repairs.
Dr. Yan strongly believes in maintaining long-term relationships with his patients in order to guide them through these major turning points in their lives. He takes an individualized approach to the surgical care of his patients, and understands the lifestyle adaptations needed after surgery. He is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons, and an active member of the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery, Society of American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons, and Americas Hernia Society.

Dr Yan is awesome. He answers questions with direct responses, does use medical jargon..explains everything clearly. You know he's being truthful. He's very thorough, and meticulous to details you ensure get the very best care. He's very personable and truly cares about you.

Dr. Yan listened to all of my concerns and freely allowed me to have input in my care plan. I appreciated how kind he was and how well he made me feel heard. I only met him one time and I trust him more than I trust doctors I've seen for years.

Dr Yan is very personable and professional. He made me feel positive and gave me the courage and determination to fulfill this journey that I'm about to embark on. His approach is very kind and he explained things to me in layman terms. Did not make me feel like I was being talked down too.

Dr Yan has to be the most caring MD I’ve ever had! He held my hand while anesthesia started and did an amazing job with my surgery. The incisions are so small and healing well. He really loves his patients and is compassionate with us and our needs. I will recommend him to anyone who is looking for a Bariatric MD!
