Dr. Chang is a board-certified bariatric and general surgeon. She received her bachelor of science from the University of Michigan and medical degree from Wayne State University. Subsequently, she completed general surgery training at Saint Joseph Mercy Health Hospital in Michigan and Bariatric and Minimally Invasive Surgery fellowship at Indiana University.
Her clinical focus is the disease of obesity. She understands that obesity requires comprehensive treatment. Therefore, she attained specialized knowledge with dual board certifications in both the surgical and medical care of obesity (Diplomate of the American Board of Surgery, Focused Practice in Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery and Diplomate of the American Board of Obesity Medicine).
She performs minimally invasive bariatric surgery using both laparoscopic and robotic techniques (Roux-en-Y gastric bypass, sleeve gastrectomy, duodenal switch, single anastomosis duodeno-ileal bypass (SADI), and revision bariatric surgery). In addition, she performs endoscopy and general surgery such as the surgical treatment of gastroesophageal reflux disease, hiatal hernias, and paraoesophageal hernias.
Dr. Chang is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons and a fellow of the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery. She is an active member of the Society of American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons and the Obesity Medicine Association. She works on advocacy and continuing education as the President of the Indiana chapter of the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery.
In her spare time, she and her husband enjoy chasing after their three kids.

Do a better job at your follow up appointments. You need to do a better job at examining the incisions. I didn't even get to show one incision before you said they look great. There are three incision and ik you didn't see the one by my belly button. All in all just slow down and put some care into your follow ups

Dr. Chang was excellent, and her support staff are excellent. The only feedback I have is centered around the other aspects of the program. During my last appointment I was supposed to meet with a Registered Dietitian for 30 minutes and the Dr. Chang for 10 minutes. Unfortunately the meeting with the dietitian started 10 minutes late and went almost an hour. That made me almost 45 minutes late for Dr Chang and threw off the rest of my day. It would be very helpful if we started on time, and the appointment times were more accurate (I don’t mind taking an hour, but I planned for 30 minutes).

She answered all my quetions and took her time to listen to me. However I did have one very important question to ask of her but I will see her again soon and I will have the opportunity then to ask her.
