Dr. Sanjay Thekkeurumbil (Thek) is a board-certified colon and rectal surgeon and a Community Health Network MD Anderson Cancer Center participating provider. He specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of diseases of the colon, rectum and anus. He has special interests in surgical management of colorectal cancer and inflammatory bowel disease, minimally invasive colon and rectal surgery, transanal minimally invasive surgery, and anal sphincter preservation surgery.
He received his medical degree from Saba University School of Medicine and completed an internship and residency at Cleveland Clinic. His colon and rectal surgery fellowship was done at Penn State University. Dr. Thekkeurumbil is a member of the American Society for Colon and Rectal Surgeons and the American College of Surgeons.
In his free time, he enjoys spending time with his wife and two children, travel, and trying different cuisines. He enjoys sports, particularly basketball and snowboarding. He speaks English and Spanish.
