I underwent rigorous clinical and basic electrophysiology training at Montefiore Medical Center, Albert Einstein College of Medicine, New York, and, as a post doctoral fellow at Columbia University in New York. My research interests were focused on the pathogenesis of cardiac memory, a ventricular repolarization phenomenon that can be observed after alterations in the myocardial depolarization sequence, as well as in the pathogenesis of atrial fibrillation (AF) including autonomic modulation of AF. I was conducting large animal experiments to investigate the occurrence of memory in the atrial myocardium. Additionally, I developed a canine atrial pacing induced animal model to study atrial cardiac memory, and also developed a canine model of pacing induced atrial fibrillation. These experiments were geared towards gaining a deeper understanding of the early electrophysiological remodeling processes that contributes to the perpetuation of atrial fibrillation. During my career as a clinical electrophysiologist, my research interests has centered on the ablative therapy of atrial fibrillation and other complex cardiac arrhythmias. Additionally, I have been interested in cardiac resynchronization therapy, His bundle pacing, and have contributed to the electrocardiographic optimization of resynchronization devices.

In the last 16 years I have developed the USF Electrophysiology and Arrhythmia Service which is now considered a regional referral center of excellence for patients with complex cardiac arrhythmias.
