Dr. Maria Govorkova is a board-certified ophthalmologist who treats the full spectrum of eye conditions. She specializes in cataract surgery, pterygium surgery and eyelid surgery.
"I am very passionate about preserving and restoring people's sight, which has such a profound impact on a person's quality of life. I dedicated my life to help people with vision problems, and the most rewarding thing for me is to see my patients thriving and enjoying what they love," she says.
In addition to her medical degree, Dr. Govorkova holds a PhD in neuro-ophthalmology and was honored with the Merrill Reeh Pathology Award for outstanding contribution to the field of ophthalmic plastic and reconstructive surgery. She's also a three-time winner of the Erdbrink Award for best resident research. Dr. Govorkova holds a patent for a method of preventing optic atrophy in closed craniocerebral trauma and has published multiple articles in peer-reviewed journals related to her research.
Outside her practice, Dr. Govorkova enjoys spending time with her family, reading, swimming, hiking, skiing and traveling.
