Matthew Benjamin Main, MD

Inspired by his grandfather's medical practice in Northern Michigan, Dr. Main embarked on a journey to full-spectrum family medicine. After receiving his bachelor's degree in biochemistry from Spring Arbor University in 2003 and his medical doctorate at Wayne State University School of Medicine in 2007, Dr. Main excelled at the Community East Family Medicine Residency. A graduate of the class of 2010, he received the Robert Palmer Award for academic excellence. Grounded in family medicine, Dr. Main then completed his fellowship in surgical family medicine obstetrics at Medicos Para La Familia in Memphis.



After this training, his family medicine practice in rural and underserved southern Indiana required a wide range of procedures: cesarean deliveries, diagnostic fetal ultrasound, newborn care, inpatient rounds, nursing home and home calls to the Amish community. Serving as the clinic's medical director and chairing various hospital committees, Dr. Main worked hard to improve patient access to care, especially for expectant mothers and infants.



Now on faculty, Dr. Main brings a wealth of knowledge and commitment to medicine. He is dedicated to optimizing patients' access to both acute and chronic care while respecting their diverse physical, mental and spiritual needs. In his teaching, Dr. Main aims to inspire the next generation of physicians to achieve their most comprehensive and compassionate medical career.



Outside the office, Dr. Main enjoys spending time with his wife and two boys. He is an avid cyclist and enjoys playing the violin and piano.
