A proud Indiana native, she earned both her undergraduate degrees and medical degree from Indiana University School of Medicine, completing her residency at Indiana University Medical Center in Indianapolis.
With a career spanning more than two decades, Dr. Voelkel has been at the forefront of surgical innovation in women's health. She has performed laparoscopic hysterectomies since 1999 and was among the early adopters of robotic-assisted surgery in 2005. In 2021, she became one of the first ob/gyns in the nation to earn the Minimally Invasive Gynecologic Surgery (MIGS) Focused Practice Designation.
She is committed to advancing women's health through state-of-the-art surgical techniques that reduce recovery time and improve outcomes. Her clinical interests include advanced minimally invasive procedures such as laparoscopic, robotic, vaginal, and VNOTES (vaginal natural orifice transluminal endoscopic surgery) approaches, as well as the treatment of complex conditions like endometriosis.
She is a Fellow of the American Congress of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG), a member of the American Association of Gynecologic Laparoscopists (AAGL), and is consistently recognized as one of Indianapolis Monthly 's Top Doctors.
Outside of her medical practice, Dr. Voelkel enjoys family life with her husband, with whom she has raised a daughter and a son.
