Dr. Creel is a Phi Beta Kappa graduate of the University of Mississippi in Oxford, where he studied biochemistry. During undergraduate school, he was awarded the prestigious Taylor Medal and received the University's French Language Award. He received his medical degree from the University of Mississippi School of Medicine in Jackson where he graduated Alpha Omega Alpha and received the American Society of Clinical Pathologists' Award. Dr. Creel completed both his internship and residency in internal medicine at the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson. While a resident, he received the American Federation for Medical Research Centocor Gastroenterology Scholar Award and the Southeast Center of Excellence in Geriatric Medicine Resident Award. He completed a fellowship in gastroenterology at Baylor University Medical Center in Dallas, Texas, where his research included increasing the sensitivity of colorectal cancer screening. Dr. Creel is a member of the American Association for the Study of Liver Diseases, the American Gastroenterological Association, the American Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy, the American College of Gastroenterology, and the American Medical Association. His clinical interests include the effects of HIV on the GI tract, treatment of Hepatitis B & C, gastroesophageal reflux disease, colorectal cancer screening, and biliary endoscopy. Dr. Creel joined Atlanta Gastroenterology Associates in 2011.
