William E. Norris, MD, FACG, is a native of Delray Beach, FL. He earned his medical degree from Meharry Medical College and completed his residency at The University of Tennessee. He received his undergraduate degree in Biology from Morehouse College and is board certified in gastroenterology.
Dr. Norris spent nine years in the United States Army. He served three years at Fort Campbell, where he was the Chief of Medicine. Subsequently, he completed a gastroenterology fellowship at Walter Reed Army Medical Center. He completed an advanced therapeutic endoscopy program at the University of Maryland. He has held academic appointments at the level of an Assistant Professor of Medicine at Uniformed University of the Health Sciences and Georgetown University School of Medicine. He is published in peer-reviewed medical journals and has presented abstracts and research at national meetings. He was appointed Director of Endoscopy at Walter Reed, and had the unique experience to serve as the personal gastroenterologist for military flag officers and members of the U.S Senate and Congress. Dr. Norris is an Operation Iraqi Freedom veteran, serving a combat tour with 1st Cavalry Division in 2009. He was awarded the Bronze Star Medal for his performance during this tour.
Dr. Norris has been practicing Gastroenterology in the metro Atlanta area since 2016. Prior to joining Piedmont, he worked for Atlanta Gastroenterology Associates. He has a special interest in therapeutic endoscopy. In his spare time, Dr. Norris enjoys spending time with his wife and children. He is an avid runner and fitness enthusiast.
