Benjamin J. Golas, M.D., FACS is dual board-certified in Complex General Surgical Oncology and General Surgery. He holds the prestigious roles of Regional Chief of Surgical Oncology for Hackensack Meridian Health’s Central Region, Surgical Director of Oncology Services at JSUMC, Vice Chair of Surgery, JSUMC Cancer Surgery, and Associate Professor of Surgery at the Hackensack Meridian School of Medicine. He has established a high-volume, state of the art surgical oncology practice servicing patients across the central and southern regions of New Jersey. His program is rooted in the principles of expedient compassionate care, superb clinical outcomes, and pioneering innovations. His program offers state of the art cutting edge care – including advanced endoscopic therapeutics, robotic surgery, and surgical options for patients with advanced/metastatic disease. In addition to establishing a CRS/HIPEC (Cytoreductive Surgery and Hyperthermic Intraperitoneal Chemotherapy) program, Dr. Golas created a PIPAC (Pressurized Intraperitoneal Aerosolized Chemotherapy) program at HMH. PIPAC is a novel minimally invasive surgical procedure for patients with advanced peritoneal malignancies. This is the first PIPAC program in the state of New Jersey and highlights Dr. Golas’ reputation as a nationally recognized leader in the field of surgical oncology.
Dr. Golas provides surgical care for patients with cancers of the pancreas, liver, gallbladder, bile ducts, stomach, intestines, and peritoneal cavity, in addition to melanoma and soft tissue sarcoma. Dr. Golas is a nationally recognized leader in the field of surgical oncology who has treated thousands of patients, published extensively in high impact peer-reviewed journals, conducted important cancer research, delivered many invited lectures, and mentored numerous medical students and surgical trainees. Prior to joining Hackensack Meridian Health, Dr. Golas served as Chief of the Division of Surgical Oncology for the Mount Sinai Health System.
