Harsha Karanchi, MD

Dr. Harsha Karanchi is an endocrinologist at MUSC. He joined as an assistant professor in the Division of Endocrinology in 2018. He graduated from medical school in India and subsequently pursued residency in internal medicine at Houston Methodist Hospital in Texas. He completed fellowship in endocrinology, diabetes and metabolism at St. Louis University School of Medicine, Missouri, and then served as faculty at Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center in Shreveport, Louisiana, for three years before moving to Charleston.





Dr. Karanchi is board-certified in internal medicine, endocrinology, diabetes, and metabolism. As a diplomate of the American Board of Obesity Medicine and American Board of Clinical Lipidology, he is a certified obesity medicine specialist and lipidologist. He is a member of The Endocrine Society and the American Diabetes Association, and was inducted as a Fellow by the American College of Endocrinology in 2018. He received an employee appreciation award -the Shining Star 2017- for outstanding service while faculty at Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center. He was promoted to associate professor at MUSC in 2021.





Dr. Karanchi is interested in helping patients manage obesity, metabolic syndrome, and prevent diabetes and complications. His clinical practice focuses on weight management and diabetes.





Dr. Karanchi is committed to providing comprehensive quality care and emphasizes patient education. The role of nutrition, eating patterns, and exercise in the promotion of health is emphasized. He works with patients in a supportive environment to reach their individualized goals while tackling impediments posed by life in the modern world.
