Ian Barrett, MD

Dr. Ian Barrett is a fellowship-trained orthopedic surgeon specializing in sports injuries. His practice mastery extends to all minimally invasive arthroscopic procedures of the shoulder, knee, hip and ankle. Dr. Barrett also specializes in primary joint replacement surgery of the knee, shoulder and hip, including partial knee arthroplasty and computer-navigated replacement.
Dr. Barrett earned his medical degree from Case Western Reserve School of Medicine in Ohio. He completed both his internship and residency at the Mayo Clinic in Minnesota. Dr. Barrett then went on to complete a sports medicine fellowship at Stanford University in California.
As the field of orthopedic medicine evolves, Dr. Barrett is passionate about evolving along with it. Whether it's new surgical techniques, technological advancements or innovative therapy concepts, he's always on the lookout for new and better ways to care for his patients.
His goal is to perform the most technically excellent surgery possible, while consistently working to improve his understanding of leading-edge advancements. Dr. Barrett has a patient-centric approach to care. During clinical visits, he aims to educate his patients on all the treatment options available, outline the relative risks and benefits of each approach, and then tailor the patient's care to their unique philosophy and goals.
Outside his practice, Dr. Barrett enjoys rock climbing, playing guitar, reading and engaging in philosophical debates with friends.
