Katharine Nelson, MD

Dr. Katharine Nelson specializes in treating pediatric and adult allergies, asthma and other problems of the immune system. She believes in treating the whole person and works closely with patients and families to improve health. She likes seeing people of all ages but has special expertise in working with children.

Because Dr. Nelson believes that people know their own bodies better than anyone else does (even their doctors), she spends a great deal of time teaching her patients about asthma and allergies. She feels that doctors and patients have the best results when they work together as a team, and she discusses all treatment options before deciding with her patients on a course of action.

She finds it especially rewarding to be able to tell a family that a child has outgrown a previously restrictive food allergy.

Dr. Nelson enjoys being on staff at El Camino Health, which she describes as an excellent community resource that strives for the highest standards in patient care. She appreciates how the care team works together to provide seamless care.
