Dr. Renée Rosati is an interventional spine physiatrist who provides non-surgical spine care to reduce patients' pain so they can return to activities they enjoy. She primarily focuses on musculoskeletal and spine conditions such as arthritis in the low back or neck, degenerative disc disease, scoliosis, spinal stenosis, whiplash syndrome, sciatica, disc herniation, buttock pain, and muscle spasms. Treatment may include physical therapy, image-guided epidural steroid injections, nerve blocks, or more advanced procedures such as radiofrequency ablation, peripheral nerve stimulator placement, or vertebral augmentation. She performs nerve conduction studies and EMG to diagnose peripheral nerve injury.
Dr. Rosati is Board Certified in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. She went to medical school at VCOM in Spartanburg, South Carolina, completed her residency at Vanderbilt in Nashville, Tennessee, and further sub-specialized with a fellowship in Interventional Spine at Emory in Atlanta, Georgia. Dr. Rosati has published articles on the use of blood thinners during spine procedures and the presence of buttock pain stemming from the sacroiliac complex. She has presented her research at national conferences.
Dr. Rosati is also interested in how music, art, and nature can play a role in the rehabilitation process. She started a concert series at the Vanderbilt rehabilitation hospital to give up-and-coming musicians a place to perform and brighten patients' spirits. She also established a garden therapy program, where patients would plant herbs outside or arrange floral bouquets to give to their caretakers. She encourages her patients to share their goals and hobbies with her so that she may tailor their treatment to meet their specific needs.
She serves on the Governance Committee and the Public Affairs Committee of the North American Spine Society (NASS) and hosts the NASS podcast series on interventional spine procedures. She is a former Board of Trustee member of the South Carolina Medical Association. Dr. Rosati serves as an Assistant Professor of Orthopaedics and Physical Medicine and enjoys teaching medical students and residents about her specialty.
She is originally from Scottsdale, Arizona. In her free time, she enjoys learning about historic architecture, oil painting in plein air, and growing vegetables and flowers in her garden.
